I just wrapped a 3 performance run of Black and White Tea Room, the english translation of a Korean play that's been performed all around the world for the last 8 years (including Edinburgh Fringe 4 years in a row!).
The play, written and directed by Cha Hyun Suk (or Ray as I know him), centers on an ex-cop turned life counselor named Nicholas Black (played by me) who is confronted by the sins of his past when a disturbed individual arrives seeking his guidance.
It was a whirlwind process, as my scene partner and I only had 2 weeks to rehearse and had to work without the director for the majority of it. But in the end we made it happen, and Ray was pleased with the work. So pleased, in fact, that he invited us to perform at his company's theatre festival in Seoul in the fall! More details to come...
